Bernadine Bruneau Obituary

Bernadine (Porter) Bruneau

(Age 82) Bernadine succumbed to congestive heart failure on December 1, 2013. Bernie was born in Springfield, Missouri on January 16, 1931, the third of five children. She became a Redmond Bicycle Derby Princess, graduated from Lake Washington High School and married Pierre E. Bruneau, all in 1949. She was a homemaker and also employed at various jobs including the King County Park Department, where she helped children with special needs for 19 years. She left behind her loving husband Pierre and their two children, Edmond Bruneau and Renee Colleran. She is also survived by two sisters, Vineta Hausauer and Virginia Pickett, as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bernie loved many activities including gardening, swimming and square dancing. She enjoyed solving all types of puzzles and playing cards with friends/family. Her talent for knitting, sewing, weaving and carving yielded many beloved treasures. Bernie and Pierre adored the RV life and shared many adventures and travels, including wintering in Arizona. At her request, a private memorial for family and close friends was held at the Woodcrest Estates Clubhouse in Bothell on December 15, celebrating a life well lived.

Contributions may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association.

One of the truly lovely ladies of all time. My dear friend Diane Lochnane and I spent many a wonderfully innocent evening with Bernadine and Pierre, dancing at the Trianon or to the jukebox at the Cottage Lake gazebo. Fondest memories of a time when love was real. Bless you, Bernie, and you too Pierre.

After losing my mom in October of 2009, Bernie became like a second mom to me until her death. She accepted me into the family from the first day I met her, and always treated me with love and respect. She was a very special lady with a huge heart. I will never forget her.
