CHINOOK - John Colin Hasler, 33, died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday.
Visitation is 6 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook. His funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the American Lutheran Church, with burial in Kuper Memorial Cemetery. A fellowship reception will be held at the church after the burial.
John is survived by his wife, Stacey Hasler, and his two children, Raynee and Lane, all of Chinook; his parents, John and Gloria Hasler of Havre and Malta; grandparents Bud (John's hero) and Laura Belle Hasler of Malta; sisters Lorrie (A.J.) Keller of Havre, Ginetta (Trent) Frost of Bozeman and April (Dan Ritchey) Hanson of Malta; mother and father-in-law Jon and Janice Wood of the Sweet Grass Hills area; sister-in-law Mandy (Brian) Morris of Lake Zurich, Ill., brother-in-law Justin (Suzanne) Wood of Meridian, Idaho; brother-in-law Aaron Wood of Butte; seven nephews and one niece; and numerous cousins.
John was born Jan. 12, 1975, to John C. and Gloria B. (Bieber) Hasler, in Helena, Mont. The family moved to Havre in 1984. John grew up in Havre and attended school there, graduating from Havre High School in 1993.
After graduating, he worked on a ranch south of Chinook. He also worked for Bill Henry Construction in Havre.
He met Stacey L. Wood and they married July 22, 2000. The couple then moved to the Sweet Grass Hills area. To this union, two children were born, Raynee and Lane. While living in Sweet Grass, he worked for Pepsi. The family later moved to Chinook and John started working for the railroad.
John enjoyed life and his family. He had a good heart and was a very caring person. He also was considered fun-loving and always willing to help others. He enjoyed the outdoors and all the activities offered. He loved camping, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and spending time in the Bear Paw Mountains with his family.
He was preceded in death by grandparents William and Elsa Bieber; grandfather-in-law Jim Wood; uncles Jonathan, LeRoy, and Elmer Bieber and Joe Lucas; and cousins Lynnette Dowling and Eric Bieber.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to a trust account for the family at the Wells Fargo Bank in Chinook.
