Lori Bain Obituary

KALISPELL - Former Great Falls resident Lori Jean Bain, 52, of Kalispell, an optician, died Saturday of cancer at a local nursing home.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at the Christian Center Assembly of God Church in Kalispell, with burial in C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Jeff Bain of Kalispell; a daughter, Rani (Mike) Brennan of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two stepsons, Nathan Bain and Jared Bain, both of Kalispell; her mother, Bonnie Eller of Cascade; a sister, Lynn (Mark) Gasser of Kalispell; a brother, Lance (Sheri) Eller of Lewistown; a granddaughter, Faith Brennan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lori was born Jan. 8, 1954, in Great Falls, to Emmet and Bonnie Eller. She spent her childhood in Centerville and graduated with honors from Centerville High School in 1972. During her high school years, she was actively involved in several organizations including band, cheerleading and drill team.
After graduation, Lori moved to Missoula to study psychology at the University of Montana while owning and operating a pizza business on Front Street. In 1980, Lori gave birth to her only child, Rani.
Lori and Rani moved back to Great Falls in 1983, and Lori became a certified optician while working with a private optometrist. She later went on to work as an optician at Malmstrom Air Force Base.
Lori and her daughter moved to Kalispell in August 1994 after Lori accepted the optical manager position opening at the then-new Shopko store in Kalispell. She continued her optical career there until April 2000.
In February 1995, while working at Shopko, Lori waited on a customer who became her husband and the love of her life. Jeff and Lori were joined in holy matrimony on Sept. 2, 2000, aboard the Far West Cruise Ship on Flathead Lake.
Lori's passion in life was her ability and willingness to care for and take care of all her family and friends in time of need. Lori had such a big heart and was never selfish in giving of herself or her time to those who were less fortunate. Lori will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all others who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Memorials are suggested to Angel Flight, 3161 Donald Douglas Loop S., Santa Monica, CA 90405, or the American Cancer Society, Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

Dear Rani, Jeff and family,

I am so very sad and surprised to hear of your loss. I rarely check the obits in Great Falls, and could hardly believe my eyes.

I knew Lori when we were both Opticians in Great Falls. We organized the State Optician’s Association Convention in the late 80’s, and became good friends. I lost track of her when she moved to Kalispell, but I have always considered her a dear friend.

The saying goes:

“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.” This was so true of Lori. She was always so full of life, her laughter ringing out, as she threw her head back with the pure joy of living. She was the friend who could make your whole day brighter just by saying your name. I know even after more than 10 years if I had seen her she would call out my name and run to give me a hug just like she always did. I was so blessed to have known her.

I know your grief is very great, and I will hold you all in prayer, even as I hold Lori in my heart.

May God be with you,

Phyllis (Swanstrom) & Alan Figarelle

Jeff, Raini & family,

I read today with great sadness of Lori's passing. Although we had lost touch this past few years some of my fondest memories are from the time we were more than co-workers but neighbors and friends in the 4200 block of Central. Together we learned a lot about ourselves and were able to move on and ultimately a short time later Lori met you, Jeff, and as they say the rest is history. Raini, I have held a soft spot in my heart for you since your mom and I became coworkers here in Great Falls. She was so incredibly proud of you. Remember the carb loading, goulash and fun? I learned to like Ceasar Salad from your mom -- I learned to like red wine from your mom and I learned a lot about unconditional love and faith from your mom. To this day, I still eat those bagged Ceasar salads and I think of Lori. I remember when we came to visit in Kalispell the last time, and since then I have often wondered how all of you were doing. They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions and mine will include the pavers of never having made the time to contact all of you. I am so very, very happy, Jeff, that you and Lori were finally married and that there are those happy memories to cling to. May God bless you all at this time of sorrow and may you find peace in knowing Lori will be a wonderful "angel" -- she was here on earth and now she will look upon us all until we can meet again. Sending you my love.
