Joan Laurent Obituary
Kewaunee - Joan "Toots' Laurent passed away peacefully at Kewaunee Health Services on March 7 2021. She was born on August 1, 1933 to the late Edward and Elsie Szydelo in West Kewaunee. On September 16, 1950 she married Willard Laurent in Dubuque Iowa and he preceded her in death in January 1999.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Parish and the Rosary Society. Toots worked as a waitress for many years and later for Leyse Aluminum now known as Vollrath Corp where she retired from. After retirement she worked at Harbor Lights Lodge and also as a school Crossing Guard. Willie and Toots enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cottage in Olsonville in Florence County.
She is survived by her son Dennis, daughters Vicki (Robert) Allshouse, Shari (Dave) Konop and her daughter in law Erika Laurent. She is further survived by her grandchildren Jamie (Andy) Dellemann, Heather (Matt)Wirz, Tara (James) LaCrosse, Kim (special friend Andy) Holmes, Emily Laurent and Katie Laurent and her Great Grandchildren Calen Dellemann, Carly (special friend Dalton) Dellemann, Leah LaCrosse, Jackson LaCrosse, William Day, Jacob Wirz and Lucas Wirz. She was blessed with a Great Great Grandson Cashton Ambrosius in 2020 who sadly due to Covid restrictions she was never able to meet. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Elsie Szydelo, husband Willard and her youngest son David. Also preceding her were her Father in law and Mother in law Frank and Mae Laurent, brothers in law and sisters in law, Clarence Laurent, James Laurent, Rosie (Don) Berkovitz, Betty (Vic) Shimanek and Carol (Vince) Fleck.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday March 13 at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee until the time of services. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. James Dillenburg at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to give special thanks to Kewaunee Health Services, Silver Leaf Manor and Unity Hospice for the wonderful care given to Toots.

Toots was one of our most treasured friends. As an employee, she was the kindest, most dependable and pleasant person anyone could know.
We were fortunate to have had her with us.
Our deepest sympathy to Dennis and the Laurent family. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
