Eva Hensley Obituary

Eva Hensley

Eva Dean Hensley went to her heavenly home to join other loved ones on Sunday, August 17th, 2025. Born June 26th, 1931, to Robert Dean and Stella Mae Morris in Hawkins County, TN. Eva met the love of her life, Andy Hensley, and they were married July 2nd, 1949. Eva and Andy began working with Andy's mother, Louie "Granny" Durham, who established Durham Rest Home in 1951. Joining her in 1963, Eva and Andy changed the name to Durham-Hensley Nursing Home. In 2005, the name was changed

again to Durham-Hensley Health and Rehabilitation and is now owned by their two daughters, Kathie Hensley Ball and Donna Hensley Blazer. Eva wore a lot of hats during her time at Durham-Hensley, mostly in the dietary department. She also loved to work on the landscaping outside of the building and decorating on the inside. Durham Hensley was a large part of her heart from then on. Eva loved her Lord and Savior, her family, her church, her flowers, and her animals, especially her cat, Freckles.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Hensley, father, William Dean, her mother, Stella Mae Morris, her step-father, Thomas Morris, her brother, Gene Dean, sister, Phyllis Effler, step-sister, Carnelle Morris Jenkins, grandchildren, Brittany Coppage and Devin Coppage, and great-grandchild, Ashton Weems.

Eva is survived by her son Michael (Jennifer) Hensley, daughter Kathie Hensley (Denny) Ball, and daughter Donna Hensley (Glen) Blazer all of Chuckey, TN. Brothers, Joe (Maggie) Morris of Kirkland, IL and Phil (Lila) Morris of Kirkland, IL. Sisters, Louise Norton of Belvidere, IL, Carolyn Douthat of Machesney Park, IL and Mary (Dave) Caughey of Belvidere, IL. Grandchildren, Matt (Chasity) Ball, Heath Ball, Kelly (Matt) Coulston, Becky (Jamie) Tilson, Andrew James Weems, Trinity Blazer, Jacob Blazer, Jerry Blazer, Tina Blazer, and Josh Blazer. Great-Grandchildren, Evie (Eva) Ball, Sophie Ball, Gage Wild, Cody Coulston, Neveah Weems, Noah Weems, Cooper Collins, Cleo Collins, and Clementine Norman. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank her caregivers that she has had for the last few years, especially Beth Pugh, Darlene Goodman, Treva Crawford, and her sister Carolyn Douthat who moved from Illinois to Tennessee to help take care of her. Eva loved and appreciated all of her caregivers.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 22nd at Jeffers Funeral Home in Afton, TN from 1:00pm-3:00pm and 5:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 23rd, at her church, Chuckey Methodist Church at 11:00am with Rev. Randall Emmert officiating. The body will lie in state 30 min before the service. Pallbearers will be Matt Ball, Heath Ball, Denny Ball, A.J. Weems, Cody Coulston and Anthony Tolliver. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Teaster, Eugene Futch, and the men of Chuckey Methodist Church.
