Nellie J. Lamb Roberts, 84, of Baileyton, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday morning surrounded by her family and close friends.
She faithfully attended Caney Creek Primitive Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed going to church more than anything. She also found joy in providing for others through food and her loving care.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years: James Roberts; a daughter and son-in-law: Jama and Chad Cannon; a daughter-in-law: Jackie Farris of Sulphur, Louisiana; grandsons: Reid Cannon, Corbin Cannon, and Derek Riddle; a special friend whom she thought of as a daughter: Yvette Lamb; a brother and sister-in-law: Howard and Eudima Lamb; and several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Steve Farris and Gary Farris; her parents: Joe and Aretta Lamb; brothers: Dewey Lamb and Paul Lamb; and a sister: Willie Kate Lamb.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, downtown. The funeral service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. in Jeffers Downtown Chapel with the Rev. Mike Harmon officiating.
The graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Cross Anchor Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m. to prepare to go in procession to the graveside service.
Pallbearers will include Reid Cannon, Corbin Cannon, Chad Thornburg, Russell Frye, J.W. Lamb, and Andy Lamb.
Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Tucker, Everette Chambers, John R. Carter, and John Dunn.
The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Daniel Lewis and the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
