September 7, 1933 - January 21, 2021

PLEASANT GARDEN – Bobby Lee Ward, 87, died on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2021 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Boyd Joyce officiating. Interment will follow in the Ward Cemetery, Sandy Ridge. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and face coverings are required.

Mr. Ward was born in Stokes County to the late Ralph Ward and Maude Morton Ward. Bobby retired from Sears then finished his working career at Wesley Long Hospital as housekeeping supervisor. In his younger years, Bobby enjoyed playing baseball, playing guitar and attending southern gospel concerts. Bobby loved all things aviation and even took flying lessons. He also was a motorcycle enthusiast, so much that he purchased one at seventy-five years old. Bobby was a former member of Brightwood Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lee Ward; brothers, Frankie Ward and Ralph Wayne Ward and sister-in-law, Erika Ward.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Claudia Williams Ward, of the home; children, Karen Browne (Hal), Terry Ward (Karen), all of Greensboro and Michelle Tesh (Russell) of Mocksville; grandchildren, Tara Peed (Stephen), Bradley Browne, Brooke Ward (Jason Hughes), Annie Tesh, Rachel Vasquez (Bob), Emily Tesh and Robbie Tesh; great-grandchildren, Hunter Peed, Landon Peed and Merritt Peed; brother, Dean Ward of Greensboro; sisters, Gail Scott (Ron), Judy Gregory (Garry), all of Greensboro, and sister-in-law, Martha Ward.

Mr. Ward will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.

My prayers go out to the family members. Bobby and I worked together in the shipping department at Sears prior to his retirement. We enjoyed working together and had really good conversations.

It saddens me to hear Bobby has passed, but glad he will suffer no more. I´m thankful our paths crossed and I met such a gentle giant of a man with a caring and loving spirit. His kindness towards me and my family will be how I remember this true gentleman. My prayers and condolences to his loved ones.
