David Walker Hill, 82, died January 1, 2024 in Bradenton, Florida. David was born on April 30, 1941 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the youngest of five children to Johnny Sanford Hill and Mozelle Pegram Hill. A master electrician, David was employed for more than 30 years with Cone Mills Corporation at the White Oak Plant in Greensboro, NC. In 1978 David married the late Frances Raye (Boots) Gold. Upon their retirement they split their time between Lake Tillery, NC and Sarasota, FL. David was a soft spoken, but extremely gregarious and kind man. He had a great wit and enjoyed telling jokes. He loved playing golf, painting, and caring for a vast array of family pets and farm animals acquired over the years. Above all, he loved being near Lake Tillery with his beloved Boots. They were married for 45 years. David is survived by a daughter, Mary Hill Kennedy (Terry), of High Point NC; a son, Steven Hill (Teresa), of Roxboro, NC; two step-daughters, Melanie Newby (Phillip) of Bradenton, FL, and Stephanie Newby of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Stephanie Long (Sopheak) of Greensboro, NC, Lauren Harbury (Miller), of Charlotte, NC, and Grayson Harbury of Charlotte, NC; and two great grandchildren, Saley and Solana Long of Greensboro, NC.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on January 12, 2024, at the Uwharrie Methodist Church, 3025 NC Highway 109 North, near Troy North Carolina. Arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory.

David & Boots lived beside us on Brookhaven Mill Road for years. Our boys spent as much time over there with them as they did at home. The boys would take care of the horses and other animals when they went to the lake. They were awesome neighbors and great friends. Prayers for your family during this time. Ronnie & Carla Chambers

David and Boots were good friends of ours. We had many good meals together. David was a true gentleman and always willing to help others. We missed them when they left Greensboro but we kept in touch. My thoughts are with the families today.

I´ve cared for Mr. Hill in Bradenton Fl, he was such a sweet man & a flirt who always brought a smile to anyone who encountered him. I use to sing to him and he always enjoyed listening (even though I sounded like a strangled chicken we would both laugh about it)
