James Edwards
August 16, 2025
James "Jimmy" Douglas Edwards, Jr. was born in Ryan, Okla., to Helen Cortez Fagan and James Douglas Edwards, Sr. On August 19, 1941.
He passed from this life Friday, August 16, 2025 at the age of 83 just 3 days short of his 84th birthday.
Jimmy grew up with a strong work ethic and a love for his hometown community. When his parents, Doug and Helen, opened the Peach Orchard Café in Terral on October 31, 1948, Jimmy was right there beside them, learning the family business from an early age. By age 12, he was already serving customers - something he would continue to do for a lifetime. Taking over from his father, Jimmy proudly owned and operated the Peach Orchard, making it a cornerstone of Ryan and Terral for generations.
Beyond the café, Jimmy was a dedicated cattle rancher, a loyal OSU fan who never missed a chance to cheer on his Cowboys, and a member of the Ryan United Methodist Church. On September 9, 1983, he married the love of his life, Tana Huey, in Ryan, where together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and service.
Jimmy's legacy is one of generosity, hard work, and deep community roots. He was known for his kindness, his easy smile, and his unwavering support of those around him. To his family, friends, and countless others he took under his wing, he was not just "Jimmy," but a steady presence and a true "Pops" to many.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Tana, his parents and his grandson Alec Williams.
Jimmy is survived by his children, Stacy Edwards Williams and husband Steven, James "Jamie"Douglas Edwards III, and Joby Edwards; grandchildren, Riley McGlory and Joc Douglas Edwards, his brother-in-law, Howard "Howdy" Huey and wife Lori, and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Interment will be in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Homes. Gathering of family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Dudley Funeral Homes in Ryan, Okla.
