Kenan Casteen Wright

Eden - Kenan Casteen Wright, 70, of Eden, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Hospice of Rockingham County in Wentworth.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 31, 2023, at 2 p.m., at Leaksville United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Kenan was born March 2, 1953 to Homer E. Wright, Jr. and the late Betsy Casteen Wright. He was a graduate of Morehead High School and UNC Chapel Hill. Kenan was a member of Leaksville United Methodist Church and a former church trustee. He was the President of The Wright Company of N.C., Inc. and an owner of Oak Hills Golf Club and Pool. During his life, Kenan was very involved in his local community and was a member of many boards and clubs. He was a member of Jaycees, Toastmasters Club, FNB Southeast Bank Board, New Bridge Bank Board, Triad Business Bank Board, Former Vice Chairman and Chairman of Morehead Memorial Hospital Board Trustees, the Board of Directors of the RCC Foundation; The RCC Board of Trustees where he served as Chairman, YMCA Board, Carlisle School Board of Trustees, the Rockingham County Board of Health, President of the Home Builders of Rockingham County, and member of the Board of Ownership of St. James Plantation. He enjoyed golfing, snow skiing, tennis, traveling, earning his private pilots' license and spending time with all his family and friends. Kenan held many titles in life, but his favorite role was being a loving father to his two girls, Margaret and Elizabeth.

Besides his father, Kenan is survived by his loving wife, Molly Flynt Wright; two daughters, Margaret O. Wright and Elizabeth C. Wright; three sisters, Beth Wright, Martha (Dwight) Hopkins, Margaret Wright (Warren) Wills; one brother, Edward (Phyllis) Wright; brothers-in-law, Will Flynt and Hoke (Julie) Flynt; nieces and nephews, David (Aimee) Hopkins, Franklin (Katie) Hopkins, Isaac Hopkins, Brook Wills, Robert (Linda) Wills, Beth Pearson, Sarah (Matt) Yates, Al Wright, Claire (Dikshant) Uprety, William Flynt, Warren Flynt, Charlie Flynt and Ben Flynt.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister, Linda Wright.
