Parks Fields Obituary

Fields, Parks C.

July 13, 1938 - September 4, 2023

Parks C. Fields, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023, at the age of 85 after a three-year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

His service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023, at Tabernacle Methodist Church, Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Parks was born in Guilford County on July 13, 1938, to Cecil McKenzie and Ruth York Fields. He was a 1956 graduate of Pleasant Garden High School and went on to earn his degree in Agricultural Education and Biology at North Carolina State University. While at NC State University, he was active in Pershing Rifles, Monogram Club, Glee Club, and was on the Wresting Team.

After college, Parks became a proud member of the United States Coast Guard, where he was active in the Drill Team. After teaching Agricultural Education, Parks went on to become the County Supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration in both Brunswick and Anson Counties and continued that work for fifteen and a half years. Once in Wadesboro he became the Owner and Operator of Fields Realty, Inc. with his wife, Linda Sutton Fields. Parks was always a farmer at heart. He owned and operated Fields Farm in Anson County raising turkeys, as well as Double S Farms in Pitt County, a large swine operation.

After retiring, he was not one to slow down. Parks went into Commercial Real Estate and eventually owned and managed a large number of commercial properties in several counties around North Carolina. He loved being outside and was often the acting facility manager and "handyman" at these properties. His love for the outdoors and his knack for having a green thumb got him started in gardening, which became a special lifetime hobby of his.

Parks was a faithful member in a variety of church and civic organizations including Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte, NC; First United Methodist Church in Wadesboro, NC; and his home church, Tabernacle Methodist in Greensboro, NC. He held offices in every church, as well as Civic Organizations including the Lions Club in which he was named Lion of the Year in Anson County. Parks was very active on several Board of Directors for organizations such as Southview Academy, the Anson Chamber of Commerce, and was President of the Anson-Richmond Board of Realtors all in Wadesboro, NC.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 58 years, Linda Sutton Fields, and two children, Susan Russell, and Edward (Vanessa)Fields both of Greensboro, NC. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren: Brandon Russell, Jessica Russell, and Samantha Fields. The love they had for their Paw Paw / Papa and the love he had for them will stay in their hearts forever. Parks is also survived by his special sister, Patricia Ross and two nephews, Dr. Alan Ross (Jan) and family of Summerfield, NC and Steven Ross (Beth) and family of Dallas, Texas.

Memorials may be made in his name to Tabernacle Methodist Church, 5721 Methodist Road, Greensboro, NC 27406. Forbis & Dick, 4601 Pleasant Garden Road, Pleasant Garden, NC 27313 is handling all arrangements for the family. Online condolences may be offered at www.forbisanddick.co

Dick and I have a special place in our hearts for Park. We loved his southern drawl. He introduced us to the "Come-a-long," and helped us get our car unstuck from the garage. We remembered he and Linda dancing in our Rec room
On New Year´s Eve.
Our prayers and deepest sympathy. He certainly earned his "Angel WINGS."
