GREENSBORO TAMARA OLIVE WARD PASSED AWAY AT THE age of 62 on December 18, 2014 at her home in Statesville, North Carolina.A native of Greensboro, Tamara spent her professional life in New York City. Tamara worked at Seventeen Magazine, and Rose and Associates, where she served many years as an executive administrative assistant for the family owned realty business. Tamara became a devout Roman Catholic, and was very dedicated to the Church in New York City. During the last phase of her career at Chase Manhattan Bank, located in the city's financial district only a block away from the World Trade Center twin towers, Tamara directly experienced the tragic day of 9/11. She later moved to the New Jersey countryside and was able to ride and board her beloved horse, Sebastian. Tamara honed her equestrian skills and enjoyed taking and giving riding lessons. She was admired for her artistic abilities and paintings. After returning to North Carolina to be close to family, she spent the last years of her life enjoying her animals and pursuing artist talents. Ms. Ward is preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Robert Reid, and maternal and paternal grandparents.Sisters, Lalla Reid, Tanya and David Feagins, Timmie Sue and Sam Akerson Sr., Terri and Benni Laier, nephew Michael and wife Karen Phelps, and many step-nieces and nephews survive her.A graveside service at the Ward family ancestral burial site located in New York City's historical Green-Wood Cemetery will be held at a future date. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved father Richard Carleton Ward.Condolences can be placed online at www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tamara's name to the Humane Society. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville, North Carolina is assisting with the arrangements for the family.
