Christopher Augustine Obituary

Christopher Michael "Mike" Augustine

Columbia

Christopher Michael "Mike" Augustine passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 4, 2015.

Mike was born September 9, 1970 in Huntsville, AL to Joseph Christopher and Sharon McGowen Augustine. He lived an adventurous childhood residing in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Florida and South Carolina. He met his first wife, Amanda Halloran in Atlanta. Mike and Mandy welcomed their first child, Christopher in 1996 followed soon after by Ella in 1999. Chris and Ella were the lights of Mike's life.

Mike's early career was spent with his father growing the family business, American Compressor and Equipment Company. His career expertise was compressed air engineering and by age thirty his expertise was well established in the Southeast region.

Mike enjoyed a multitude of leisure pursuits. He was an accomplished scuba diver and especially enjoyed diving in the black water of Low country South Carolina. He enjoyed martial arts, particularly free-form sparing at local gyms. Mike was an accomplished guitarist. He also loved to mountain bike but age and accidents had kept him away from that sport in later years, much to his family's relief.

Mike is survived by his current wife Angela; beloved children, Christopher Michael and Ella Graydon as well as his parents, Joe and Sharon; siblings, Joseph, Matthew & Theresa; grandmother, Jeanne and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and a very close and dear friend Fred Baraky of Pittsburgh, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Officiating will be Reverend Dr. Mark Bredholt. The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established to benefit the ongoing educational expenses of Ella; donations may be sent "For the Benefit" of Ella G. Augustine, Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 5846 Columbia SC 29250.
