Carroll Moore Obituary

CARROLL KATHARINE WORRALL MOORE, age 78, of Old Greenwich, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at her daughter's home in Fairfield, CT with her daughter by her side. Born in 1930 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Isabel Flippen York and James M.D. Worrall. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years William Eugene Moore. Carroll was raised in Charlottesville, Virginia and attended the University of Virginia. Following graduation she was a Medical Research Assistant at UVA Hospital Cardiology Dept. After marriage, in 1955 she moved to Old Greenwich where she lived for the remainder of her life. Carroll was an active tennis and golf player and also enjoyed bridge. Mrs. Moore was a Greenwich real estate broker for 25 years and recently worked as a realtor for Pruner and Associates and previously was co-owner of Cove Realty in Old Greenwich. She was a member of the Belle Haven Club, Greenwich, CT, Silvermine Golf Club, Norwalk, CT, Farmington Country Club, Charlottesville, VA., and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Greenwich. Carroll was an active parishioner of Christ Church in Greenwich, CT where she served on the Alter Guild for many years. She will be fondly remember as a loving housewife and mother and was loved by many cherished friends. Survivors include three daughters, Cary Moore Spears and her husband William Eugene of Greenville, SC; Anne Moore and her husband Dr. Tom Bonbright of Denver, CO; Katharine Radziewicz and her husband Stephen of Fairfield, CT; 9 grandchildren; her aunt, Lucy Buford of Lexington, VA; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her sister Susan Isabel Tucker. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church, Greenwich on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow immediately after the burial at the church. The Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S Benson Rd., Fairfield is in charge of complete arrangements. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Craig Olin of Personal Physicians of Connecticut for his dedicated and wonderful care given to their mom for many years. I remember Carroll fondly from our years on the Belle Haven tennis team together. She was a wily and accomplished opponent. I cherish a picture of the team when we won, for the first and only time Division A of FCWTL. Carroll was there. She will be missed.
