Elizabeth Beam Obituary

Elizabeth Beam
Elizabeth (Patton) Beam
Age 76 of Export, PA passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 27, 1945 to Thomas R. and Elizabeth D. (McConaghy) Patton, Jr. She married Peter Beam on December 16, 1972 in Longmeadow, MA. Elizabeth, who was called "Beth" by most is survived by her beloved husband, Peter; children, Peter R. (Alison) Beam, Thomas C. (Christina) Beam, and Elizabeth B. (Andrew) Bendel; grandchildren, Thomas P. Beam, Jacob T. Beam, Ryan J. Beam, Brian P. Pirone, Elizabeth P. Pirone, and Timothy P. Pirone; mother-in-law Mildred E. Beam and sister-in-law, Pamela G. Patton. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Thomas R. Patton, III. Beth's greatest joy in life were the relationships she built with people. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Beth was a graduate of The MacDuffie School, Bates College and Springfield College. She was a longtime resident of Greenwich, CT. She worked as a guidance counselor at Greenwich High School for 35 years where she touched and impacted the lives of many. Some of her happiest memories were those of her students and co-workers. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the movies with her friends or alone! Walking, jogging and bike riding were a regular part of her daily routine. She loved the outdoors and planting flowers that hummingbirds and bees could enjoy. She loved all animals, especially golden retrievers. She was a fierce competitor and thoroughly enjoyed beating her family in all sports and games, including her son Tom. He never was able to beat her in a game of ping pong. Beth had a smile that would light up a room. Many have described her as a "bright light," which is how she will be remembered by her family who loved her so much. So sorry to hear that Beth has passed. I worked with her at Greenwich HS in the 1970's and thought she was the BEST! Beth knew me before I married my husband, Walt, as Joy Parker. She was kind and sympathetic and I was sad to have lost touch with Beth. I'm sure you all miss her but will always remember her.

Dear Peter & Family,
We were so sadden & heartbroken to hear of Beth´s passing. We have fond memories of our time spent on our Burroughs Court here in NC. As we go through the neighbor we have fond memories of Beth and how she loved walking through our neighborhood and the doggie treats that you always had for Toby & Dylan. You are with the Angels now and watching over all who loved you.

Over the past few days, Beth has been warmly remembered in so many conversations around Old Greenwich and Riverside. She was a caring and kind person, with a ready smile. We're sending the Beam family sympathy and hugs at this sad time.

Beth continues to be a bright light for me; she was always there to be helpful when I was a new counselor at GHS and for the rest of the years we worked together; Beth cared deeply for all of us in the GHS community and I am grateful to have been her colleague. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with all of you in Beth´s family.
