I'm a very fortunate guy. For over 20 years I got to share life with Jeff Wright as a young man in Long Beach, California. We met when we both worked on the the Queen Mary; me as a diver and aquariust, Jeff as a tour guide. What a great college job!
In the early 70s, we created ways to find adventure in a mostly urban environment. We skateboarded, jumped off cliffs and bridges, skin dived and body surfed in the Pacific Ocean, camped and backpacked, paddled kayaks, took road trips to Mexico and Oregon and skied the steep and deep together. Jeff was truly a "go for it" kinda guy with an adventurous spirit and a creative mind that encouraged a wonder of just what might be in store for us around the next corner.
Sadly, I lost touch with Jeff for some years, but gratefully regained contact during the last few years of his life. We talked fairly frequently on the phone but regretfully didn't cross paths again. This is certainly my loss for he was special. An independent thinker, courageous in spirit, kind in heart and simply a man of honor and character.
I will miss Jeff, very much. I am better off for having been in his presence. I treasure the adventures we were fortunate to have shared...
