PROFFITT, Leonard Leonard Proffitt age 81 of Hamilton passed away at University of Cincinnati Hospital on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10:30PM. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on January 2, 1927, the son of Tilford and Eliza (Bruner) Proffitt. Leonard was an active member of the North Fairfield Baptist Church serving as Deacon for many years and also serving on many church committees. He was employed as a crane operator and die setter for Fisher Body for thirty years retiring in 1982. On May 5, 1945 in London, Kentucky, he was married to Iva Lee Elliott. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-two years, Iva Lee Proffitt of Hamilton; one son, Leonard (Nancy Jo) Proffitt Jr. of Hamilton; two brothers, Gilbert (Mae) Proffitt of Batavia and George (Shirley) Proffitt of London, Kentucky; three sisters, Pearl Yaden of London, Kentucky, Jessie Coulson of New Richmond, Ohio and Louise Yaden of Hamilton; two grandsons, Ryan(Sarah) Proffitt and Shawn (Delores) Proffitt both of Hamilton; six great-grandchildren, Briana, Bronson, Emily, Tanner, Brittaney and Courtney all of Hamilton and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mack Proffitt and six sisters, Leota Byrd, Mary Jane Yaden, Effie Mae Yaden, Ethel Yonce, Jewel Phelps and Nancy Chandler. Funeral services will be held at the North Fairfield Baptist Church, 6853 Gilmore Rd. on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 1PM with Rev. Mark Wilson and Rev. Robert Skirvin officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 11AM to 1PM.
