Michael Bake Obituary

News Death Notice

BAKE, Michael Woodrow "Big Jake" It is with immense sorrow the family of Michael W. Bake announces his demise. Sharing in the overwhelming loss and sorrow over Michael's passing are his mother, Dorothy B. Bach; wife, Donna S.M. Bake; daughter, Heather M. Bake; and son, C. Matthew (Holly) Bake. Also left to mourn are his grandchildren and a host of friends. Preceding Michael in death were his maternal grandparents and daughter, Heidi Nicholle Bake. Michael "Big Jake" Bake was one of a kind. His personality was gregarious and infectious. He was sharp, witty, intelligent and always quick with a rhetorical remark. A gifted athlete, he totally optimized the macho man's man. Michael's approach to everything was direct and on a grand scale. Even his Big Jake's racing team had a team doctor and a publicist. Simply put, no one did it better than Big Jake. Michael retired from AK Steel, being a part of that tight knit fraternity, the Rigger Shop. He was a member of Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church. Prior to his debilitating illness, Michael pursued many interests and activities. He was a former 4-H advisor, as well as being a member of such organizations as the Butler County Farm Bureau and the Butler County Fair Board. He was also a member of the National Quarter Horse Association, the American Paint Horse Association and the Nature Conservatory. Michael was involved in the National Duroc Breeders Association and the Cattleman's Association. As a legacy to Michael, the family would like to share the following: "I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun. Of happy memories that I leave when life is done." Big Jake has officially left the building. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Wilson- Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Father John Civille officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Bake Family Plot - North Monroe Cemetery.
