Anthony Serratore

1924 - 2015

Anthony "Chut" Serratore, beloved father, grandfather, and husband of Gloria Bonetta Serratore for 63 years, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 16th at St Francis Hospital after a long battle with heart disease. Born in Bristol on September 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Francesco and Angela Rondinelli Serratore. Anthony was a graduate of Bristol High School Class of 1942 and of the New England Technical Institute. He was employed as a lab technician at Hamilton Standard until his retirement in 1987.During WWII, he served in the amphibious force of the U.S. Navy as a radioman in both the European and Atlantic theaters taking part in the invasion of Naples, Italy and Marseilles, France. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign ribbon and the WWII victory medal. Besides his wife, Anthony is survived by his devoted daughters and a son-in-law, Jean and Mark Johnson of Southington and Lynn Serratore Garman of Tolland. He was especially proud of his two precious granddaughters Taylor and Haley Garman. He leaves a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lora and Normand Carleton of Bristol , close and supportive cousins Jay and Ann Bonetta, cousins Edmund and Alice Testa, a sister-in-law Anna Serratore, and close friends Irene and John Laurendeau with whom many happy vacations were shared. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Catherine and Carmella Serratore and his brother Vito. Anthony leaves behind a wonderful legacy of kindness, humor, wit, patience and love. His family will always remember him for the love and devotion he gave to each one of them. Anthony was aware of the debt he owed to the doctors who treated him, always with compassion and care; his primary care physician Mark Polatnick and the doctors at St Francis Hospital's Conjestive Heart Failure Unit, especially Dr. Sabeena Arora. Per the deceased's wishes, there are no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 20th at 10a.m. at St. Anthony Church celebrated by the Reverend Nicholas Melo. Deacon Larry Cote will serve. The Resurrection Choir and organist John Konwierski will perform. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family requests prayers for the repose of Anthony's soul.
