Charles Caye Obituary

Charles E. Caye III, 72, of East Hartford and formerly of Palmetto, FL, beloved husband of the late Marcella (Hary) Caye, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Charles and Doris (Cramer) Caye Jr., he grew up and lived in East Windsor and East Hartford, and after his retirement he lived in Palmetto, FL for over 17 years before recently returning to East Hartford. Charles served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and he was very proud to be a Vietnam veteran. Prior to his retirement in 2000, Charles was a truck driver for over 30 years and he drove for U. S. Food Service and was a member of Teamsters Local #559 in South Windsor. He was an avid bowler, and he enjoyed fishing and traveling with his family. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #2117 in Palmetto, FL. He had an infectious laugh and sense of humor. Charles loved people and his friends were family, and any stranger was just a friend that he hadn't met. He is survived by his children, Deborah Derosier of Manchester, Charles Caye and his wife Sandi of Manchester, and Theresa Bairos of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Rebecca and Joseph Derosier, Savanna Caye, Lauren and Alec Bairos, and Valerie and Steven Cersosimo; six great grandchildren, Joshua, Evelyn, Jayden, Michaya, Natalia, and Antonio; a sister, Ann Kulas and her husband Dave of Windsor Locks and their daughter Krystle; a brother, Ronald Cramer and his wife Susan of Windham, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Holly Caye, his son Leonard Caye, and his sister Helen Lowe. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 2 – 6 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery with military honors. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Association, 825 Brook Street, I-91Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 101 Centerpoint Drive, Suite 107, Middletown, CT 06457. Sorry my friend to hear this today. We talked in early September and you left me feeling ok about your health. We know you are with Marcie and hopefully the lord will bring us up there with you when it's my turn. We have no reservations that you are with the lord.
