Edith Mamet Obituary

A loving Angel of Grace was called to her heavenly home. Edith Helene (Mlodoch) Mamet passed from this life to eternal life on Friday, October 20, 2023. She was born on July 26, 1932 in Klein Sackrau, Germany. Her parents were Helene (Bucholski) and Otto Mlodoch. She was a WW II survivor, although she lost her mother and brother, Reinhard, during that time. After the war, she met her future husband, Guenther, and made plans to go to America. It was after she settled in the U.S. that Guenther followed and they began a new life as husband and wife for 63 Years. Edith was a faithful Christian and great homemaker. She loved to cook and bake and care for her three children and six grandchildren. She worked for the West Hartford School District in the Elementary Cafeterias. She loved to work in the garden and was very active in her Church. She sang in the choir and played in the bell choir, was a Sunday School teacher, visited the sick and shut-in, served on the Altar Guild and helped out wherever she could. She was a founding member of a German Bible Study group that met for most of her years, until dementia set in and she passed on the 20th of October at 91 years old.

Surviving are her husband, Guenther; son, Norbert (Sherry) Mamet; son, Harry (Lucy) Mamet; daughter, Heidi (Jim) Garrity; six grandchildren - Bridget (Ricky), Kevin, Abigail (Tyler), Krista (Josh), Nicholas (Alisa) and Gabriella; six great-grandchildren - Alexa, Riley, Caden and Makenna, Michael and A.J.; a brother, Wilfried Mlodoch, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Germany. In addition to her mother and brother Reinhard, she was predeceased by her father and brother Herbert.

There will be a Service of Celebration and Remembrance for Edith on Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 46 Woodland Street, Hartford. Norbert, Harry and Heidi I´m so very sorry to hear the passing of your mom. My mom Carmela Campitelli worked with Edith at Websterhill and they were the best of friends. I remember your mom picking my mom up at times when they used to go out for lunch or going to some of the school functions even after my mom stopped working to take care of my nephew. My mom always spoke highly of your mom.
My deepest condolences to all of your family. May Edith Rest in Peace
