Frank DeCaro Obituary

DECARO, Frank F. On Wednesday, (July 18, 2007) after a brief illness, Frank F. DeCaro died surrounded by his loving family whom he adored. Born August 15, 1923 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Antonio and Antonia DeCaro, whom he cared for all his life. He is survived by three brothers, Joseph DeCaro and his wife Anita, of Springfield, Dominick DeCaro and his wife Rita, of Ludlow and Louis DeCaro of Enfield. He is also survived by two sisters, Angelina L'Ecuyer and Katherine Cassotta, both of Enfield. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong friends, Buddy Sullivan and John Mascaro. He proudly served his country and with honor in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. During the 1960's, he served his community as an Alderman for the City of Springfield, and was a former member of the Springfield Fire Commission. He was honored to serve as a member of the Mt. Carmel Society of Enfield, the Verdi Club of West Springfield, and the Am Vets. He was a communicant of Mt Carmel Church in Springfield. His loyalty, love, dedication to his family, friends, and community at large will forever be a reminder to us of a life we should all strive to emulate. A funeral service will be held for Frank on Saturday, July 21, beginning at 8:45 a.m. at the Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main Street, East Longmeadow followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield. Calling hours will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in Frank's name to the charity of choice.
