Frank DiTOMMASO Obituary

DITOMMASO, Frank A. Frank A. DiTommaso, 78, beloved husband of Lena (Pontillo) DiTommaso, of Vernon died Tuesday (September 7, 2010) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Hartford on October 31, 1931, son of the late Frank and Concetta (Augello) DiTommaso, he grew up in Hartford and lived in East Hartford for many years before moving to Vernon six years ago. Frank was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and was employed as a member of Local Union 481, International Brotherhood of Painters for 35 years. When he retired he began working at the newly constructed Home Depot in Manchester for 15 years in the paint department and then he worked with his son for the past three years. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, enjoyed gardening and loved to dance with his wife in their early years. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Lena he leaves their children, Frank DiTommaso and his wife, Liz of Hampton, NH, Shirley A. DiTommaso of Woodstock, GA, Mark DiTommaso and wife, Phyllis of Hebron and Michele L. Carpino and her husband, Frank of Coventry; a brother, Salvatore DiTommaso and his wife, Betty of Boynton Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews and, grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Joseph DiTommaso. Family and friends may gather, Saturday at 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 1 Community Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be held at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends, Friday from 5-8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home.
