POTTER, George "Boomer" George "Boomer" Potter, 54, of Chestnut Hill Road, Colchester, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, (June 22, 2005) at home. He was born in Norwich on Sept. 7, 1950 and was raised by his beloved grandparents. He attended Bacon Academy in Colchester, graduating with the Class of 1968 and went on to study at Indian River Junior College, where he was a very talented basketball player. For many years, George was a self-employed concrete specialist in the area and most recently worked for DMC Construction in Middletown. He loved all types of sports, especially golfing and cheering on the New York Yankees. George was a very active member of the Colchester Farmers Club and was their current President. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Justin and June Potter of Westbrook; a grandson, John Potter; and numerous extended family, friends and his "breakfast buddies". He was predeceased by two grandsons, Dylan and Matthew Potter. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday directly at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Avenue, Colchester. Committal will follow in the Potter family plot in the Ponemah Cemetery, No. Westchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Colchester Farmers Club, 112 Halls Hill Road, Colchester.
