ROGERS, Henry Joseph, Jr.
Henry Joseph Rogers, Jr., "Hank", passed away Saturday, (November 2) at Lawrence and memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Hartford, CT on July 11, 1943, Hank was 70 years old. He is survived by his son, John Henry Rogers of Haselbach, Austria; John's wife, Doris, and John's two daughters, Megan and Josephine. They knew Hank as "Oppa". Hank is also survived by his sister, Susan Rogers Fatka (husband Paul, daughters Kasey and Krista) of Niantic and brother Chris Rogers (wife Nancy, daughter Anna, son Ben) of Hamden. Hank is predeceased by his wife, Dolores, "Fi", Brown. He is also predeceased by his daughter, Britta Rogers Young of Palm Beach, FL. Britta's family in Palm Beach Gardens were also a big part of Hank's life: known as "Da" to granddaughters Kelsey, Rachel, Emily and son-in-law Vince. Hank is also predeceased by his sister Rene Rogers Cavanaugh of Niantic (husband Bill, children Maureen Cavanaugh Granado, Terry Cavanaugh, Chris Cavanaugh, Sean Cavanaugh survive); and predeceased by brother Paul Rogers of Hartford. Hank attended Hall High School in West Hartford. He graduated with a business degree from Bentley College in Boston and also graduated with a liberal arts degree from St. Francis College in Biddeford, ME. He married his high school sweetheart, Fi, shortly after his college graduation. Hank lived in Niantic for many years raising his beautiful family. He ran a successful business, Rogers' Remodeling, and was an active member of the rotary. He and Fi relocated to the Palm Beach area of Florida in the 1990's and remained in Florida for almost 20 years. Hank returned to his old stomping grounds of Niantic to resume a very quiet, simple life. Everyone knew Hank to have a quick wit and a story to match any topic at hand - he was loved and admired and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church in Niantic at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 9. Burial at Union Cemetery in Niantic will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CT Hospice.

Losing a family member is sad; losing a big brother is especially so. I met Hank over 40 years ago and saw him again only once after that meeting. Still, I knew him through accounts of him from Chris and know what a impact his loss has on those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Hank. Sympathies to family and friends.

Losing a beloved family member is sad; losing your big brother is especially so. I met Hank twice, both times briefly, but know of his life and what an impact his loss has had. Rest in peace, Hank. Deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved him.

My deepest condolences to the Rogers family.
I had the pleasure of meeting Hank in the 1980's while he was running Rogers' Remodeling.
He came into the lumberyard daily with a cheerful attitude and a smile on his face and amused us all with his colorful stories.
When he returned to the store a year or so ago, I was happy to see him. I recognized him immediately, even from a distance. He'd barely aged a day.
He still had that awesome, warm smile and his trademark sincere cheerfulness about him. We had a nice little chat catching up on new things and reminiscing about the old days.
Rest in Peace dear Hank.
You will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting you.
