Ida Louise Hoffman

1923 - 2015

Ida Louise (Badstubner) Hoffman, 91 of Broad Brook, beloved widow of Ernest R. Hoffman, died Sunday, January 04, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born February 22, 1923 in Hartford to the late Fred and Minnie Badstubner. Ida graduated from South Windsor High School. She and her husband owned and operated Hoffman's Market. She also had been employed at Hamilton Standard, Connecticut Mutual Insurance, Broad Brook Gardens and Revay Garden Center. Ida was very involved in the community especially at the Grace Episcopal Church in Broad Brook, she served many roles such as singing and directed the choir, taught Sunday School, She was a member and Senior Warden of the Vestry and was a member and Director of the Altar Guild. For 35 years she served as treasurer for the East Windsor Visiting Nurse Association. She is survived by her sons; Ernest R. Hoffman, Jr and his wife Nancy, Jay F. Hoffman and his wife Cheryl and Jeffrey C. Hoffman and his wife Susan; her Grandchildren; Jennifer Stein and husband Jeffery, Kelly Donavan, Betsy Koplin and husband Andrew, William Hoffman and wife Katy, Emily Vincent and husband Thomas, Christopher Hoffman and wife Abby and Zachary Hoffman; and seven great Grandchildren. Besides her husband, Ida was predeceased by her sister Norma Coleman and her brother Fred Badstubner, Jr. A grateful thanks to all of her neighbors who were so caring and helpful over the years. Relatives and friends may join the family on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 4 - 6 pm at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, CT. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10:00 am at Grace Episcopal Church, Broad Brook. Burial will follow in Windsorville Cemetery.
