RUGENS, Janine Patricia (Routhier)
Janine Patricia (Routhier) Rugens, 82, of Rocky Hill, passed away on Monday, (July 22, 2013) at the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain after a short illness. Born and raised in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Leontine Routhier. Janine was a graduate of the Teacher's College of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut. She was employed as an elementary school teacher in Colchester, Newington and for 26 years in Berlin before retiring in 1986. After her retirement, she worked at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library for 10 years. She is survived by her husband of 54 years James P. Rugens of Rocky Hill, two sons, Michael J. Rugens of Kensington and Steven J. Rugens and his wife Terri of Wethersfield and her daughter Elise J. Rugens of New London. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law Rita Routhier of Newington and Liz Rugens of Kensington and several nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, whom she cherished dearly. She was predeceased by her brother David Routhier.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at St. John Church, 5 St. John Ct., Cromwell. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Memorial donations may be made to the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library, 234 Kensington Rd., Berlin, CT 06037 or to the Forgotten Angels Animal Sanctuary, 442 Rixtown Rd., Griswold, CT 06351.
