John Calvert Obituary

John C. Calvert, 49, of Manchester, died peacefully, Sunday (February 16, 2003) at Rockville General Hospital, with his family and friends at his side, after a courageous battle with A.L.S "Lou Gerhigs Disease". John was born Sept. 11, 1954 in Stamford, son of Margaret "Peggy" Calvert of Manchester and the late Philip A. Calvert. He attended St. Bridget Church in Manchester, and had worked as a sheet metal worker for over 30 years with Union Local #40. Besides his loving mother, he is survived by his four cherished children, Michael T. Calvert, Ryan J. Calvert, Casey L. Calvert and Kelly M. Calvert all of Tolland, he was the proud grandfather of Angela Calvert also of Tolland. He also leaves his sister and brother, Kimberly A. Calvert and Timothy P. Calvert both of Manchester; several nieces, and nephews and many close friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael T. Calvert. Funeral services will be held Wed. Feb 19, at 9:15 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in St. Bridget Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggest that memorial donations may be made to the Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis Assoc. of CT c/o Westport Gallery, 125 Main St., Westport, CT 06880.
