John MULLEN Obituary

MULLEN, John Edward John Edward Mullen, 82, of Wethersfield, devoted husband of Shirley Mullen, his wife of 20 years, died peacefully Friday (October 29, 2010). Born in Pittsburgh, PA August 13, 1928, he later relocated to New Britain. He was the only child of the late John Paul Mullen and Edna (Laufersweiler) Mullen. He proudly served in the United States Navy and graduated from Porter's School of Design with a degree in Mechanical Drafting. He worked for North & Judd Mfg. Co. of New Britain for over 25 years, and designed their "Anchor" logo. After leaving N&J he went on join Custom Metal Crafters in Newington, turning out the detailed meticulous drawings of his trade until his retirement five years ago. He is survived by children of their combined families: Jon Curtis Mullen, Trish Stenner, Kim Crockwell, Peter, Tim and Joseph Toner; his grandchildren Chandra, Kendall, and Zachery; Ryan, Danny, Rachel, Christian, Quinn, Camryn, Addison and Timothy, to whom he was their "Papa John," great grandson Jude, his aunt Jane Guiot, niece Marna Walters, nephew Jeffrey Guiot and his former wife, Grace Mullen. Retiring to the enjoyment of life, he and his extended family made frequent visits to East Beach in Rhode Island. His faithful little dog Snoopy played with him in the sand and surf where they spent many happy times at this favorite spot. Donations may be made to The American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Guests may sign a memorial book at the website : http://www.abbeycremation.com/
