Joyce CARRIER Obituary

CARRIER, Joyce H. Joyce H. Carrier, 60, of Windsor Locks, entered into her eternal rest on Friday, (April 23, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. Born on October 12, 1949, in Springfield, MA, Joyce was the daughter of Rita (Parenteau) Heroux of Feeding Hills, MA and the late Normand Heroux. Joyce received her Bachelor's Degree in Math from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA and worked for many years as an IT Specialist. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Windsor Locks where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed sports, especially the UCONN basketball program and the Boston Red Sox. A talented cook and baker, she loved making meals and cakes for friends and she would crochet Christmas stockings and give them away. A devoted wife, mother, daughter and grandmother, she enjoyed the time she spent caring for her family and loved to travel to visit with them. Joyce always put others before herself and this was exemplified by her gift as an organ donor. Besides her mother, Joyce is survived by her husband of 35 years, Steven J. Carrier of Windsor Locks; her daughters, Jennifer C. Dorman and her husband Robert of Bethlehem, PA, Amie L. Carrier, DVM of Rockville, MD and Joelle Carrier of Windsor Locks; her two grandchildren, Christian Carrier and Dominique Carrier Silbert; and her mother-in-law; Beatrice Carrier of Hartford. Relatives and friends may gather at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St. on Tuesday morning, April 27, 2010 at 9 a.m. to St. Mary's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, April 26, 2010 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, from 5-8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial donations to St. Mary's Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096. I can't believe it has been almost a year and it still feels so surreal to me. I still wake every morning thinking I can hear you coming down the hall to ask me if I want to go out to breakfast with you. My heart still aches every day. Christian's birthday is in 2 weeks and it just won't be the same without you here. I miss you like crazy mom...

Dearest Steve, Amie, Joelle and Jennifer, I do not even know where to begin to tell you how much your mom has meant to me, especially in the early years of my marriage. We always had such a great time together at the credit union....the laughs, the talks, the guidance she gave me...she was truly a mentor to me. She planted seeds of faith in me that grew to me becoming a woman of God and raising my 3 girls in a christian home. She was such a proud wife, mom and grandmother....she talked about all of you so much. There was never a moment she was not beaming with love for all of you. She bought me the most practical wedding gift that I use at least 3 times a week to this day so I have thought about her and all of you so much over the years.....sounds silly but it is true. She has never been far from my mind. What an incredible legacy she has left behind. Each of us was blessed by having known her.

Psalm 34:18, The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Wishing you moments of joy as you remember your sweet mom,
Love, Dawn

Dear Steve, Jen, Amie, and Joelle,

I can’t even begin to put into words how sorry I am to hear about Joyce. Given the relationship you guys have had with my parents/our family over the years, I’ve always viewed Joyce as my “Connecticut Aunt.” Steve, I’m so glad that I got to see you, Joyce and Christian this summer and that Joyce got to meet my girls. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers and I will hold onto great memories of Joyce forever.

Dear Steve, Jen, Amie, Joelle, Christian and Dom.

I come here today to try and say something that may somehow offer you hope in this very sad time. Joyce was so much to so many that her absence will be felt far beyond the reaches that we can even yet imagine. But I do know that because of the person that she was and because of the person that she shared with all of us she will live on in all our hearts and with every thing we do we will take her love and joy of family with us. All of you are perfect examples of the love she had. In all of you her love and being shines and will continue to do so. I know that Joyce is now in heaven with our Lord Jesus and is in the arms of all those that went before her. She is free of suffering and pain. She watches over all of us as all the beautiful angels do.

“Until we meet again in heaven Joyce, I take all that you have shared with me and will try to emulate in my own life the person that you have helped me become. “

Love,
Diane
