June L. (Hage) Lockhart, 83, of Hartford, CT, formerly of Manchester, CT, widow of Walter S. Lockhart, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, (August 6, 2011) after a long struggle with cancer. June was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 2, 1927, daughter of Doane Herring Hage and Lillian (Anderson) Hage. She was raised on Long Island, NY, resided in New Mexico and Florida before moving to Connecticut, and prior to retiring her careers included nursing, public school teacher, piano teacher, and ballet teacher. She is survived by her son and two daughters, Major General Douglas Anson, US Army, of Tampa, FL, Carolyn Russo and her husband Gil of Manchester, and Gwendolyn Anson in the Netherlands; her brother, Doane H. Hage Jr. of Indiana; twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to The Retreat Residence Fund, 90 Retreat Ave., Hartford, CT 06106. Though my aquaintance with June was not a long one--it was while she attended services at Christ Church Cathedral, I enjoyed knowing and talking with her. She was a beautiful and charming person, and my deepest sympathy goes to her family.
