Peter Hodge Obituary



Peter Hodge, 67, of New Britain died peacefully in his sleep on Feb 27, 2017. A graduate of Portland HS class of '67, he was drafted for Vietnam, serving in the 1st Cavalry and earning the Bronze Star with "V" device and Army Air Medal. Peter worked for the Public Works Dept at the Town of Glastonbury before becoming a DMV Inspector for the State of CT, retiring after 20yrs of service. Known for his sense of humor, witty one-liners, and unwavering loyalty, he dedicated his living years honoring his fallen brethren and surviving warriors, serving as the Commander of VFW Post 7659 and as Quartermaster of VFW Post 511. He was also a member of American Legion Post 68. Peter is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Kara and Peter Hodge Jr. of Lodi, CA, Thomas and Shannon Hodge of Portland, CT, and two grandchildren, TJ and Cassi Hodge. Peter had a special place in his heart for Rita and the Audibert family, who lovingly accepted him as one of their own. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Florence and Chet Hodge. Services will be private. A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held on Saturday March 18, 2017, from 11am-3pm at the New Britain VFW, 41 Veterans Dr. New Britain, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Britain VFW.

For many,many years our paths would cross on Wednesdays at the VFW or American Legion..or both..And we always cracked wise with each other. So many stupid jokes & laughs. You Sir will be missed.God tapped you on the shoulder to make some others smile :) I will see you again... (Lew the beer man)
