PERAKOS, Peter G. "Socky", Jr. Peter G. "Socky" Perakos, Jr., 82, of Plainville died peacefully at home on Tuesday, (December 27, 2005). He was born in New Britain, CT on November 24, 1923 to the late Peter G. Sr. and Julia (Ladony) Perakos. Peter was well known in the movie theater industry having owned and operated along with his family various theaters throughout New England. For over 50 years he was a member of the movie exhibition industry and partner in the Connecticut Theatre Associates. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army with his tour of duty in the South Pacific. Peter's generous character was reflective in the many charitable organizations he was involved in. He was an active member of his faith having served as a member of board for the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, and was the former Treasurer for the City of New Britain. He was a golfing enthusiast spending many days at Shuttlemeadow Country Club. He leaves his beloved "Anselmo" Veronica A. Perakos, his wife for over 25 years. He also leaves his sons Peter S. and Paul P. Perakos of New Britain; his brothers John Perakos and his wife Marilyn of Wellington, FL, and Sperie Perakos and his wife Nikki of Orange, his sisters-in-law, Urania K. Perakos of West Palm Beach, FL; and Edith Perakos of Kensington; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dr. George Perakos and Attorney Steven Perakos and his sister Artemis Perakos-Miller. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville is assisting the family with arrangements. A 40 day Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 5, following the Divine Liturgy at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 W. Main St, New Britain. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of New Britain, 150 Washington St, New Britain, CT 06051; the New Britain General Hospital Foundation, 100 Grand St, New Britain, CT 06050; or the Klingberg Family Center, 370 Linwood St, New Britain, CT 06052.
