Ruth CUSHMAN Obituary

CUSHMAN, Ruth A. Ruth A. (Stanat) Cushman, 83, a longtime resident of Broad Brook, passed away on Sunday, (March 6, 2011), at Bickford Health Care Center. She was born in Fayetteville, NY, on September 15, 1927, to the late John and Anna (Milkun) Stanat. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, David Monroe Cushman. She loved gardening, dancing, and cooking. Foremost in Ruth's life was her family and she derived her greatest joy from spending time with them. She will be missed by her loving children, Sharon C. Vignone and her husband, John, of Broad Brook, David Cushman and his wife, Cecille, of East Windsor, Kevin Cushman and his wife, Sylvia, of Shelton, Robert Cushman, of Windsor, and Candace R. Donovan and her husband, Dennis, of HI; her 10 cherished grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Russell, William, Thomas, Steven, Krystle, Summer, Alyssa, and Nick; her five great grandchildren, Ray, Emily, Sydney, Evan and Jimmy; her brother, Ken Stanat and his wife, Sue, of Broad Brook; her sister, Marlene Marsh, of Ellington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to parents and her husband, Ruth was predeceased by her son and daughter, Steven E. Cushman and Abigail Johnson; her brothers, John and Arthur Stanat; and her sister, Alice. A funeral service in celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. followed by burial in Windsorville Cemetery. Her family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens on Wednesday, March 9, from 5-7:30 p.m. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
