DOUAIHY, Sarkis
Sarkis Mansour Zaidan Douaihy, 82, passed away on Tuesday, (February 26, 2013). Sarkis was born on Feb. 15, 1931 in Zgharta, Lebanon the son of Mansour Boutros Zaidan Douaihy and his wife Theresa. In 1958, after studying at the American University in Beirut, he emigrated with his wife, Marie, to the United States to continue his studies at Temple University and The University of Pennsylvania receiving his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. He went on to become a well respected engineer in the fields of Systems Design, RF Systems, Telecommunications, Digital Video Processing, EMC/EMI Regulatory Affairs and Military Radar Systems and Communications. A holder of several patents, he was a Major Systems Designer on Radar IF systems developing core technologies which continue to be in use today. In the late 1970's he designed, custom manufactured, and installed the Radio Free Lebanon Broadcasting Station in Lebanon as a gift to the country of his birth. In addition to his accomplishments in his chosen field of expertise, he was an avid student of French, Latin, and Arabic Literature and History and had a deep love of music and the arts. He is survived by his current wife, Ping, and his six children, Victor, Therese, Renee, Joseph, Antoine and Mary Grace as well as his nine grandchildren Rachel, Jason, Danielle, Keith, Maria, Anthony, Evan, Andre and Alexander.
A private funeral ceremony was held on Saturday, March 2 at St Maron Maronite Church in Torrington, CT. Donations in his memory may be placed to the Hartford Hospital Nursing Education Fund at giving.Harthosp.org
