Timothy McCann Obituary

Timothy J. McCann passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on December 8, 2023. A former longtime resident of the Middletown, CT area, Tim retired to Keene, NH and Lakewood Ranch, FL. As a teen, Tim loved working on go karts, mini bikes and his 1928 Model A Ford. He fell in love with and married his next-door neighbor, Ann. Together, they had three beautiful children and six grandchildren. At 20 years old, Tim joined the family business. In 2000, Tim left the business and started a second career owning and managing commercial real estate. Tim was a man of integrity and had a love for music, art, cars and people. In his younger years he was generally quiet. He listened and learned from the people in his life. He was always sociable, constantly curious and wanted to understand what other people were thinking. His love of sharing with and learning from others continued throughout his lifetime. In retirement, he co-started a breakfast group in Haddam, CT, and then in Keene, NH, he coordinated a lunch group, where they selected interesting topics and engaged in thought-provoking discussions. Tim possessed many passions and interests; however, by far his family and friends were the most important to him. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Ann McCann; son Timothy McCann, Jr. of NY; daughter, Elizabeth McCann and spouse Brian Corcoran of MA; Katherine and spouse Adam Slater of AZ; Catherine McCann of NY; his six grandchildren and his brothers, William McCann III (Sue); Patrick McCann (Polly) and Charlie McCann; sisters, Kathy Lynch (Frank) and Margaret Wilcox (Dave). Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, CT on Monday, December 18th from 5 to 7pm. His Funeral Liturgy will be held Tuesday, December 19th at 10:30am at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield St., Middletown, CT. Burial to follow the mass in Miner Cemetery. To Annie and the entire McCann family: Tim and Annie moved to Lakewood Ranch FL a few years ago right near my home - same neighborhood. We would sit on their beautiful lanai reminiscing about our youth. Annie and I have been friends for over 65 years, but I only knew Tim as "the kid" next door to her. My husband passed away in 2020 so these past couple of years I looked forward to their arrival in FL each winter and I got to know Tim well. He was always there with patience and kindness if I needed help. (As a bonus, I met their children and grandkids.) After settling in their home, Tim insisted on "having adventures" and would include me in many of them. I saw things in Florida that I never knew about after living here for 20 years!
Wonderful friend, great husband and father and outstanding grandfather.....you are missed.

From their houseboat days in Deep River, when Sage and Tim Jr. were toddlers, to the Breakfast Club at Jack's we've known and enjoyed the warm and wonderful friendship of Tim and Ann McCann. They were a perfect match and our hearts break to lose the one and see the deep sorrow of the other.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ann and the family.

I knew Tim through the antique cars. He was always helpful, friendly and kind.
He and Ann were so admired for their love of friends and family.
He would at times ask my husband his opinion of some property he was interested in. Bill was very honored than Tim valued his thoughts.
He will be missed.

Dear Ann and Family, I remember great times had as a member of the Westfield gang (You of course, Bob Turner, Jim McCoid, Jeff Meehl, can't remember 1st name Doug? Magee) building mini bikes and talking cars, and just messing around.... those were the good old days. Tim will be sorely missed by all of us school members and those he came in contact with. Tim was the epitome of a wonderful individual I am blessed to have known him.
My Sincere Condolences to You and Your Family

Anne and family,

David and I were saddened and shocked to read of Tim´s passing. Many years have passed since we have been in your company. But fond memories are still clear: visits to your Madison and Haddam homes; New Year´s Eve gatherings, celebration of our children´s life cycles; the twinkle in his eyes and the smile on Tim´s face when he engaged in a controversial conversation (sometimes playing the devil´s advocate). Anne, when it hurts to look back and you are afraid to look ahead..... look to your side and there will be family, friends, and your faith for support.

With sincere sympathy,

Alta Aldridge
