Walter Duksa Obituary

Walter J. Duksa, Jr., 79, of New Britain, died peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Woznis) Duksa. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Dr. Walter J. Duksa and Anna (Lennon) Duksa. Laddie was raised in West Hartford and spent his summers in Madison at the family cottage. He was a U. S. Coast Guard Veteran and had been a member of the American Legion, New Britain. Duke had been a firefighter with the Hartford Fire Dept. and was formerly employed by Atlantic Machine & Tool Co. He loved spending time outdoors with family and friends, and especially loved fishing, boating, camping and hunting.

He leaves his daughter Kathleen Dunlap of New Milford, and his grandchildren Madison and Gavin Dunlap. He also leaves two sisters, Anne Jimenez and husband Dr. Ramon Jimenez of Salinas, CA, and Mary Peterson and husband Rob of Hamburg, NJ; his sisters-in-law June Majewski of Bristol, and Barbara Andrews and husband Ray of West Hartford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother William Duksa.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville. He will be laid to rest with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
