Wieslaw Dzierlatka Obituary

Wieslaw T. Dzierlatka (Wesley), 65, of New Britain, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2023, in New Britain. Born in 1957 in Myszyneic, Poland, to the late Czeslaw and Stefania (Bryska) Dzierlatka, Wesley was the youngest of twelve. In 1965, his family moved to the U.S. and eventually settled in New Britain, quietly tucked into the back roads of Little Poland. Wesley graduated from New Britain High School in 1976, and worked at the company now known as Hanwha Aerospace in Newington, where he continued to work up until his sudden passing. Wesley was a charming guy and loved by many people. Known and admired for his sense of humor, with an eye for the most terrible puns, he was a jokester: Wesley took every opportunity to get people to laugh at the kinds of things they'd never believe are true, but in fact are. He enjoyed many game nights with friends, and bowled weekly at the Lessard Lanes in Plainville. As a fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and other local teams, he found his way to many sporting events, with his closest brother, Roman. You might've known him from local pizzerias frequented with his good friend Rae Quackenbush, or even at Roly Poly Bakery, every Sunday. Wesley traveled the US, visiting sites like Graceland, St. Louis, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and even the World Trade Center, just days before they fell in 2001. Left to mourn his passing are: his four children, Melissa, Amanda (Martine) and her husband Peter, Wesley and Daniel Dzierlatka; his three grandchildren, Tessa Stack, and Levon and Ruby Martine; his sister, Wanda Oja; brothers, Stefan and Zdzislaw; sisters-in-law, Mariola, Ania and Halina Dzierlatka; and many cousins, nieces and nephews; his dear friend, Frances Alper; his former wife Margaret McCaig, and many extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Czeslawa and Teresa Dzierlatka, Regina Nosek and Krystyna Dobrzynski; his sister-in-law, Palma (Scalo) Dzierlatka; and his brothers, Edward, Czeslaw, Kazimierz and Roman Dzierlatka. With fond memories to go around, he will be cherished in our hearts always. Our memories of him shall bring smiles to our faces, for in the words of Wes, "Such is life."

Visiting hours will be Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 4-8pm at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Burritt Hill. 332 Burritt Street, New Britain, CT, 06053 with a funeral service to be held at 6:00 pm. A private ceremony and burial will follow at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to PARC, Inc. at 28 East Maple St., Plainville, CT 06062, which supports family-centered services for people with disabilities.
