Andres Angulo Obituary

ANGULO, ANDRES On March 4, 2017 Andres R. Anglo Bernal passed away peacefully in his sleep and went to be with the Lord. He was in Dallas, Texas with family and friends attending the baptism of his youngest grand niece. Andres was born in a Havana, Cuba, one of six children of Jose Miguel and Esperanza Angulo on April 13, 1942. In early childhood he distinguished himself, not only in his educational abilities, but also his love for all forms of sports. As a member of the Havana Yacht Club, he participated and excelled in baseball, football, basketball, swimming, rowing, and diving, as well as what would become his lifelong passiongolf. In 1961 Andres and his family had to flee their beloved island nation, Cuba, and come to the United States. All who came to know Andres knew of the strong pride and love that he always kept for his native country Cuba. In 1965 Andres married the love of his life Margarita Alcebo and in 1966 they were blessed with the arrival of their beautiful daughter Margarita (Maggie). When Andres came to the United States seeking freedom not only for himself but also his family, he continued his education at Saint Gregory College in Shawnee Oklahoma and then graduated from his beloved alma mater, The University of Miami, with a business degree. After college, Andres again distinguished himself in his business and professional life, working throughout the Americas as an executive before his retirement at 69. But the love of his life was his wife Margarita of 50 years, his daughter Maggie Angulo Levine and her husband, Todd Levine, and his cherished grandchildren Alexandra Levine (18) and Andrew Levine (16). Andres treasured his grandchildren and was never shy in helping out in anyway he could all the way from picking his grandchildren up from school to teaching them the many lessons of life so that they could grow into wonderful adults and be a credit to their family and society. Andres' love and joy for golf was unparalleled and his love was enjoyed together both on and off the course with those that played with him. While he played all over, he loved his home club, the Riviera Country Club, where he was the club champion and fondly known by his golfing buddies as "Striker". Andres is survived by his wife Margarita, daughter Maggie, son-in-law Todd and grand-children Alexandra and Andrew. He is also survived by his loving brothers and their spouses. Mike, Carlos Mario, and Victor. Andres was preceded in death by his sister Esperanza. He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews. At the rock of his incredible love for life and family was his faith. Raised as a Roman Catholic, Andres used his faith as a foundation for all he did and believed in. His dedication to attending weekly mass and receiving communion gave him the grace to love and be loved by all of his family and friends. He will of course be dearly missed but for all that loved him they know that his example of a life of love will be kept in their hearts. The family will receive friends at Cabellero-Riviero Funeral Home 8200 SW 40 St tomorrow from 6 to 11 pm on March 8, 2017 with a funeral mass at Saint Augustine Catholic Church in Coral Gables at 10 AM on March 9, 2017 with burial at Miami Memorial Park afterward. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any remembrance of Andres be made through donation to Saint Gregory University, Shawnee Oklahoma or a charity of their choice.

We are writing to express our sincere condolences to the Angulo family. We were very saddened to hear of Andy's recent passing. We worked with him at Federal-Mogul for many years and he was a mentor to both of us and a wonderful, funny friend! He inspired a golf passion in Victor and they shared many wonderful games together including a fantastic trip to the Dominican Republic to play at a beautiful course there. The memory of that trip is one that will always be cherished. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.
