Our deepest regrets and sympathy to Darlys and the rest of the family. Mort was a great guy and we'll miss him.

My deepest sympathies. May the God of all comfort strengthen the entire family during this time of sorrow. Keep in mind that God keeps in his memory those whom we lose because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15)

I am so saddened and my condolences go out to Mort's family. I had the pleasure of working with Mort and he was a wonderful boss. I can only imagine he excelled as a husband, father and grandfather.

Thinking of you and your family during this time

It's been 3 days now since Mort passed and I am still having a difficult time wrapping my mind and my heart around the fact that he is gone. Mort had a tremendous zest for living and brought that happiness and joy to everyone around him. People gravitated to him because of his exuberance. (And, especially if you were a Miami Hurricane fan!!)
I had the pleasure of knowing Mort for the past 40+ years mostly through my association with the Engineering Contractors Association of South Florida. He was a tremendous asset to the ECA and our industry. He served on various committees as a member and chair. He was elected to the board of directors and served as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and President. Upon his retirement from the industry, he was unanimously elected by the board of directors as an Honorary Lifetime member.
As President of the ECA he brought his leadership skills and shared his knowledge of the industry. During meetings, he always had a way of making those around him feel important and at ease.
It was his great sense of humor and his larger than life personality that helped make the early years of our fishing tournaments fun and successful. He and his sidekick, best friend David Rinker, co-chaired the fishing tournament fundraiser for many years. They also brought that same level of fun to our annual Horseshoe tournament fundraiser.
Even during his health battles years ago with his diabetes and then kidney dialysis, he continued to fight on and never gave up. He was fortunate to have his adoring and caring wife beside him. What a blessing it was that Darlys could then give him the gift of life. Those additional years were a true gift to all, but I feel especially a gift for him and his grandchildren whom he adored.
Though he was 74 years old it seems like he was taken too soon. Yet, we know God has a plan and God's plan is always perfect. May we all be comforted by this knowledge.
Goodbye, my dear friend. You are already missed.
