Carol Roujansky Obituary

ROUJANSKY, CAROL LYN The small town of Orangeburg, in Rockland County, New York is in mourning today for it's much-loved free spirit, Carol Lyn Roujansky. Carol, 64, died on March 6, 2017 following a 25-year fight with cancer. Most recently living in Chula Vista, CA, Carol was the eldest of four children born to Benjamin and the late Lillian Roujansky, arriving on December 23, 1952. Within a few years, the family would be among the first to settle in Orangeburg. Carol attended Tappan Zee High School, followed by Indiana University. But Carol had set her sights on taking her extensive knowledge of languages and travelling the world. Carol loved to land in a country new to her and set out to meet people, make new friends, and soak up local culture. Carol became fascinated with the healing powers of Reiki, eventually becoming a Reiki Master and Health Coach. A truly caring and compassionate person, Carol always looked for the good in others. Carol was predeceased by her mother, Lillian, and her youngest sister, Judy. She is survived by her father, Ben Roujansky, brother Daniel (Arlene), and sister Sue. Sue spent much of the last decade travelling between her New Mexico home and Carol's California bedside, assisting in her care. Carol was in a committed relationship for many years with Lee Hunger, D.C., who also survives her. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Orangetown Jewish Center, 8 Independence Ave., Orangeburg, N.Y. Internment will follow at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Road, Elmont, N.Y. Those wishing to make a memorial donation should send it to either the Orangetown Jewish Center (theojc.org), or the 95th Bomb Group (95thbg.org). Condolences can be sent to Ben Roujansky and Family, 2 Cypress Lane, Orangeburg, NY 10962.

There are no words to express my condolences to my brother, Ben and his children, Sue and Dan, for the loss of his daughter and their sister Carol. My heart goes out to them all. Anyone who knew her, knew what a beautiful and free spirit she was. Her laughter was contagious. She will be sorely missed.

Carol's giving and loving spirit, as well as her effervescent joy in all things LIFE will be greatly missed. She was one of Best Answer for Cancer Foundation's first patient advocates, and as such she helped many newly-diagnosed and frightened patients.

Carol walked steadfast on her journey to wellness. She was one of my heroes.
