Ilse Roujansky, 97, of Orangeburg, NY passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 surrounded by her family in West Lafayette, IN. Ilse was born on February 22, 1928, in Vienna, Austria. At 10 years old she was sent on the Kindertransport to a boarding school in England until she was miraculously reunited with her parents in America. She built a home and family of her own and shared a marriage with her husband, Murray for 18 years. They remained friends throughout their lives. Ilse dedicated over 20 years of her life as a social worker in Rockland County, NY. In retirement, she volunteered as a docent at the Neuberger Museum of Art, and at the Holocaust Museum in Suffern, NY. She loved theatre, traveling, reading, art, playing bridge, cooking and baking. She will be remembered for her resilience, curiosity, and generosity of spirit. Ilse is survived by her son, David (his wife, Hana) her daughter, Jill (her husband, Sam) her grandchildren, Daniel and Eric (his wife, Taylor) and her great-grandson, Jhan. She was laid to rest in Darien, IL on February 18, 2026.
