July 1, 1940 - August 9, 2025

Palm Coast, Florida - David Walter Kilpatrick, age 85, passed away on August 9, 2025, at Advent Health Hospital in Palm Coast, Florida.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Kilpatrick, his brother, Larry Kilpatrick, his children, Donna Emge (Frank), Terry Gray (Jimmy), Paige Fenske (Wayne), Robert Kilpatrick, Kenneth Taylor, Jr. (Amanda), and Robert Taylor (Melanie). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other beloved family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelly and Walter Kilpatrick, his sister, Jean Struzenski, his brothers, John Kilpatrick and Thomas Kilpatrick, and two grandchildren, Ryan Fenske and Julie Reddick.

Besides being proud of his family, David also took great pride in his veteran status, having served 20 years as an engineman aboard diesel submarines in the United States Navy. His service record includes two tours in Vietnam. Following his military career, he dedicated 30 years as a truck and bus diesel mechanics instructor at Robert Morgan Vocational Technical Institute in Miami, FL.

David was an active community volunteer giving time to the VFW, local food bank, DAV, Flagler County schools, and The Humane Society. He was also a proud member of the Sub Vets, VFW, and DAV. In his free time, David enjoyed fishing, traveling, cooking, spending time with friends, helping neighbors, and above all, being with his wife and family.

A private service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida, to honor his life and service.

Dave I enjoyed our Wednesday lunches with our Vietnam combat group. You shared some interesting stories about your service in Vietnam. And of course everyone enjoyed that peanut brittle that you and your wife made and you were kind enough to share. Hope the pain of Dave´s passing will be eased with the passage of time.

Dave was my colleague at Robert Morgan for many years. He was the founding diesel instructor at the school and was well admired by his students, administrators and fellow teachers. He left a great legacy and will be missed.
