Gary Lehman Obituary

LEHMAN, GARY EDWARD, age 59, died in his home in Hollywood, Florida on October 30, 2019. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Columbia University, a Boston University Law School graduate, and admitted to the Florida Bar Association in 1990. Gary was singularly gifted, a meticulous, tenacious attorney, a lawyer's lawyer---tireless in his pursuit of justice, especially for those less fortunate. He especially loved mentoring youth, and always emphasized the importance of education and self reliance. Gary is survived by his brother, Richard Lehman, sister-in-law, Michele Koo, his nephew and nieces, Cameron, Elle Alexandra, and Sydney Lehman; his sister Jody Lehman, her husband, Philip Parrish, his niece and nephew, Samantha and Ryan Parrish; his cousins, Lisa and David Lehman, and cousins, Beth Ellis and Arthur Nardin. He was the most wonderful brother, cousin, son, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. We will miss him every single day, the world is a sadder place without him. A chapel service will be held on Sunday, November 10th at 11:00 am at Levitt-Weinstein-Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel, 18840 W. Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL 33180, (305) 932-2700.

I just read this obituary as I was doing a search for Gary. He represented us in various cases over the years. We are very much saddened and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family. He was an extraordinary man and deeply admired for his passion for justice and his professional skills.

I happened upon Gary´s obituary about a week ago. I am so sad to hear of his passing...he was way too young. I first met Gary when he was hired as an attorney to co-counsel on several cases he was handling for the bank I worked for. Gary was smart, articulate and funny. We ended up spending a lot of time together on one case and ended up dating for a short time. He was so sweet and always a gentleman, eventually I moved away and we lost touch. He always spoke so well of his family and bragged on his brothers accomplishments. I know they must be still missing him.

I meet Gary back in second grade at Ojus Elementary School. I still remember what he went through following the boat accident in fifth grade. Gary never let this hold him back despite all he endured over the years. It was a pleasure knowing you my friend. May he rest in peace. By Gregg L. Friedman MD

Gary was my mentor and encouraged me to go to law school. He was a great person who did carry a lot of pain. I miss him a lot and we were pending dinner plans. Everytime I see something or some art that he would clerish, I wish I could call or text him to tell him that - now I cannot. He will always be missed.

Wow, I met Gary at JFK and we had a blast all thru Jr. High and High School, (North Miami Beach). A wicked sense of humor and a strong mind. Gary really persevered and in spite of all he had to deal with, he really made one Hell of a go at it. He was a giving intelligent dude to say the least.

I attended law school with Gary and recall that from the first I found him to be passionate, brilliant, engaging and kind. He tried to hide his kindness behind a tough demeanor at times, but it was always there. I am sure he is somewhere right now arguing with Lord Byse (he would get the joke). Sarah and I are greatly saddened by his passing.

The world is an emptier place without Gary Lehman in it. Gary became a friend and part of our lives while he was in Boston for law school. He was always fun to be around and the discussion was usually lively no matter the subject. He is probably the first real connoisseur I have ever met. I'm glad the last time I saw him was in his ferrari. I am so very sorry for your family's loss. He was so smart and such a strong personality that I know you have many vivid, happy memories. Rest In Peace Gary ♥

I have been very upset over Gary leaving us. I met Gary almost 15 years ago when I was his court reporter. We became personal friends shortly after meeting. There was so much to Gary it's hard to know where to start. He was the ultimate of example of pushing through tragedy and pain and not letting things hold him back. The accident with the boat when he was 11 had a major impact on his life. He was in a coma for several weeks afterwards and had multiple surgeries up until he was almost 30 to correct injuries that occurred from the accident. He said his parents were the most supportive and loving they could have possibly been with all that he endured from that. He told me a few years ago when my father died he would grieve the loss of his parents until the day he died. He said he never had any doubts about how much they loved him. He always raved about how great they were to him. He was hesitant about going to law school due to his facial injury. His parents told him not to let that hold him back and that he could do anything he wanted to do. His father died the day before he graduated law school, which devastated him deeply. He kept pushing himself and became one of the top lawyers of Miami. And a big wow to all that he accomplished in his legal career. He was a lover of the finest things in life -- finest wines, top-notch dining, clothes, cars, fragrances, going to the Superbowl, et cetera. Most of all, he had a huge heart which couldn't be seen by many because of his hard shell, which was just his protectant. He often mentioned his nieces and nephews with great admiration. Although Gary had the best of everything and had accomplished so much, he carried much pain. I must mention he was more fascinated with Abe Lincoln than anyone I ever knew. I will miss him very much and will always remember him for how hard he applied himself to the max regardless of setbacks and his generous huge heart. We are all one of a kind, but Gary took that to a much bigger and deeper level. There was nobody else at all quite like Gary Edward Lehman. RIP Gary. I am so grateful to him for the lessons I learned from him and for his friendship.

My deepest sympathy to all of Gary's family and friends. I have been working with Gary for less than a year and during this time I found him to be very knowledgeable, trustworthy and to have a huge heart. We always would talk about his good deeds and how he was paving his way to heaven. I wish the family much peace and comfort during this difficult time. R.I.P. Gary.

Rest in peace Gary, and thoughts and prayers to family and friends personal and professional. Gary and I first met in college and remained friends over the years. He truly cared, and wanted the best for others. Gary possessed great mental attributes, and skills that he earned. He enjoyed offering and applying these for others, and often volunteered to do so for those for whom he cared. Gary also so enjoyed history. He will be greatly missed and all who knew him share in his spirit.

I have enjoyed a friendship with Gary since 1990. I mentored him when he first began practicing law, and not too long after that I found myself coming to him for advice. I believe he treated his friends the same way he treated his multi-million dollar banking clients: he was to the point, insightful, and empathetic. I will miss him.

I am so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I've known Gary for 15 years and we shared many fun times and great laughs. He was brilliant, kind, loved history and loved the law. I will miss his laugh and sense of humor, but most of all, I will miss our very special friendship. Rest peacefully my dear friend.
