Miami, Florida - A shining light was extinguished as Jose Ismael Rosado Gomez, 43, of Miami, FL passed away unexpectedly on October 29, 2021 while traveling in Madrid, Spain. Jose filled the world with joy and exuberance since his birth on April 25, 1978 to Jose Rosado Martinez and Ramona Gomez Otero in Newark, New Jersey.
Cherished by his family and friends, Jose was bold, confident, and courageous with a quick wit and uncanny ability to develop the deepest of relationships with his loved ones while at the same time unrelentingly teasing them. He was kind and affectionate, and while he had no children of his own, was especially beloved as "Tio Jose" by the many children in his life.
From adventurous travels through the world to everyday moments in their home, over the past nearly 13 years Jose and his partner Nic enjoyed the extraordinary journey of their lives together. Most treasured are their memories of nights spent entertaining family and friends with free-flowing wine and feasts of Puerto Rican cuisine cooked up by Jose.
Jose's zest for life was infectious, and he made friends everywhere he went. His life was defined by his passion to explore the world—he visited more than 50 countries on his extensive travels for both work and pleasure. He relished in experiencing the food, wine and culture of every place he journeyed, and his loss is felt in the many enduring friendships he formed after meeting people in all corners of the world.
Jose grew up in Puerto Rico, and after graduating from the University of Puerto Rico moved to Argentina for post-graduate studies at the University of Buenos Aires. He also resided in Vigo, Spain and—perhaps his favorite of all—lived for two years in London, United Kingdom.
An extremely high achiever, Jose was beginning a new entrepreneurial venture at the time of his passing after a remarkable career as an executive in the maritime, energy and banking industries.
Jose is survived by his partner Nicholas Young, mother Ramona Gomez, sister Satcha (Maru) Jorge, nephews Enrique Vargas and Anthony Romero, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins in New Jersey, Puerto Rico and beyond. He was preceded in death by his father Jose Rosado Martinez, brother Anthony Rosado, paternal grandparents Josefina Martinez Rivera and Francisco Rosado Ocasio, and maternal grandparents Carmen Otero Boria and Ramon Luis Gomez.
