George VanGorder Obituary

VANGORDER, George Albert, age 71, of Winchester, departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, Winchester following an extended illness. Mr. VanGorder was born in Blue Island, Ilinois on Jan. 11, 1946, to the late Earl Franklin VanGorder and Marie Wood VanGorder. Mr. VanGorder was a member of the Roark's Cove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Winchester Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. Mr. VanGorder was a truck driver for 35 years and a member of the Diamond Ridge Band at the Senior Citizens Center in Winchester. He was a loving husband, father, and brother. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Karl VanGorder. Mr. VanGorder is survived by his wife, Lois VanGorder of Winchester; sons, Buddy VanGorder of Alabama and Chester VanGorder of Winchester; daughters, Sheryl Branch of Winchester and Tina Edwards of Cowan; and one sister, Betty George of Winchester. Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grant Funeral Services in Estill Springs. Funeral services for Mr. VanGorder were conducted on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. Interment followed in the Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester.
