SONS, Penney Renee, age 54 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on May 22, 1964, to the late Parker and Joyce Powers. Before her illness, Penney was employed as a dietary aide at Beverly Health Care and had previously worked as a receptionist at ABC Dental. In her spare time, she enjoyed family gatherings of playing horseshoes, volleyball and having bonfires. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Sons; brother, Stevie Parker Powers; and father of her son, Steve Dudley. Penney is survived by her son, Harlin Dudley of Texas; sister, Rhonda (Anthony) Dudley of Decherd; brother, Barry (Kelley) Powers of Decherd; a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and four-legged son, Boo Boo. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Moore-Corner Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ricky Walls and Sister Sherrie Sons officiating.
