Hubert Lloyd Obituary

DENISON - Hubert Fenwick Lloyd, 85, passed away, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Texoma Medical Center.

To honor his request, no services are scheduled.

Mr. Lloyd was born on October 2, 1926 in Somerville, New Jersey the son of Hubert Evan and Elsie Pew Lloyd. He was educated in Bound Brook, New Jersey. He married Mary Agnes Smith on June 28, 1947 in Bound Brook, New Jersey.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After retirement Hubert and Aggie went into the picture framing business which also included an Art Gallery so the Hubert's watercolors could be displayed. After twelve years they again retired and Hubert continued his painting and participated in the revival of Denison's downtown business scene, being a partner on The Little Louvre Art Gallery.

For several years, until the time of his death, he included in his artistry the turning of gourds into objects of art; the gourds being grown in his garden.

Hubert held membership or office in several local organization, mostly associated with the arts. He had also served on the Board of directors of Oakridge Southgate Water Supply Company, Denison Housing Authority, Kiwanis Club and Denison Servicemens Club.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Lloyd of Denison; sons David Lloyd of Long Beach, California, Dennis Lloyd of Denison; daughters Diane Joyce of Woodbine, Texas, Darlene Lewis of Denton, Texas, Dinah Peters of Ivanhoe, Texas, and Dawn Wentner; sister Barbara Grove of Bound Brook, New Jersey; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Aggie,
I worked with Hubie for several years at JM. He was a great example of professionalism. We commented many times that few people could handle the details of his work. I glad that he got to enjoy retirement doing the things he loved most. I'm glad to have known him.
