John Hayes Obituary
John was born November 2, 1939 in Dallas, Texas, the son of E. O. "Doc" Hayes and Kathleen Lockhart Hayes. He was a 1957 graduate of Hillcrest High School and a 1962 graduate of Southern Methodist University. John met Mary Linda Wardlaw while at SMU, and they married June 15, 1962. He was a co-pilot for Braniff International Airlines for many years before retiring in 1989. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, a championship competition shooter and loved flying internationally. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by wife, Linda Hayes of the Tulip Community; three sons, John Martin Hayes and wife, Renda of McAlester, OK, Dean Crawford Hayes and wife, Cindy of San Antonio, TX, and Clint Andrew Hayes and wife, Sunni of Sherman, TX; daughter, Molly Hayes of San Angelo, TX, brother, Richard G. Hayes and wife, Val of Kennewick, WA; grandchildren, Kara Hayes, Lizzy Hayes, Nathan Hayes, and Ava Hayes, all of McAlester, OK, Matthew Hayes of San Antonio, TX, Shelbi Hayes, Audrey Hayes, Lucas Hayes, and Mary Grace Hayes, all of Sherman, TX; great-granddaughter, Abbey Baker of McAlester, OK; and nieces and nephew, Donna Hayes, Nancy Hayes Penley and Darrell Hayes and extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Corky Riemer, Jack Atkinson, Ted Davis, Sterling Kenty, Skipper Trimble and Mike Murray.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Thursday, preceding the service, at Wise Funeral Home, 219 West Sam Rayburn Dr., Bonham, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texoma Christian School 3500 West Houston, Sherman, Texas 75092 or Cal Farley Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101.
