Velma Sanso Obituary
McKinney - Velma Lee Sanso left her earthly home on 02/05/2021 in McKinney, Texas. Velma was born in Winston- Salem, North Carolina on July 24, 1938 to Charles Rufus Lane and Bessie Phillips Lane. She married Gary Sanso on Oct. 30, 1967 in North Carolina and they celebrated 46 years together in North Carolina and Sherman, Texas before his death in 2014. She had 4 children, Jerry Taza Gilbert, Mechele Stoltz, Julie Hill, and Derek Sanso.
Velma worked at Hanes Hosiery in North Carolina and was a homemaker the remainder of her time. She loved working in her yard and could be found there most of the time.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, her first husband Arthur Brinkley Gilbert, daughter Jerry Taza parents, sisters Frances Brescia, Norma Jean Westmoreland, Jerry Ann Lane, and Blossom as well as her brother, Charles Rayford (Sonny) Lane.
She is survived by her children: Mechele Stoltz (Benny) of North Carolina, Julie Hill of South Carolina, and Derek Sanso (Tammy) of Texas; Grandchildren: Brad (Ashley) Stoltz of North Carolina, Wesley (Jodi) Stoltz of North Carolina, Matthew Koehlar of New Jersey, David Sanso of Texas, Caroline (Chris) West of North Carolina and Audrey Hill of South Carolina.
Great Grandchildren: Clara and Cora, Wyatt, Natalie, and Hannah, and Arya.
A special thank you goes to the staff of Harbor Chase Assisted Living in McKinney, Texas and to Traditions Hospice for the excellent and loving care they gave her during the past months.
